Some pieces will come shipped with protective masking which should be removed upon reciept. If you notice any charring or burn marks, they can be easily removed with a baby wipe or light sanding. You may also notice a burnt wood smell. This smell will dicipate once the pieces are taken out of the packaging and left in the open air.
